Excursions in Shanghai
The tour starts with an evening cruise on the Huangpu River, which divides the Bund into 2 sections, Pu Dong and Pu Xi, which mean east of river and west of river. Local people honor the Huangpu as Mother River, and as view the lights and spectacle from the deck of the evening cruise, understand why. One of the distinct features of this town is its large number of covered corridors. The longest around one kilometer, simply called the Long Corridor it is a popular attraction of Xitang. Another interesting feature of Xitang is the 122 lanes that run through the town.
Zhouzhuang is a famous and the best preserved water-town in Suzhou. As several rivers and streams crisscross the town, many stone bridges were built to serve as links. Twin Bridge and Fuan Bridge are typical examples of these bridges and the most famous of Zhouzhuang. Many people come to Zhouzhuang to appreciate the traditional Suzhou architecture. Two buildings in particular attract many visitors.
Zhujiajiao is a water town located on the outskirts of Shanghai. A major trading centre, it prospered with its clothing and rice industries. With a history of over 1700 years, Zhujiajiao still has many ancient buildings lining the riverbanks. One of the popular historical landmarks in Zhujiajiao is the Former Post Office.
