Spend a full day exploring the city of Évora, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, a mosaic of culture, history and traditions. Several kilometres after leaving Lisbon and crossing the Tagus River on the Vasco de Gama suspension bridge, you will be entranced by a bucolic landscape dotted with cork trees, olive groves and vineyards. You will know you have arrived at the city of Évora when you see its old city walls and dazzling whitewashed houses. Get ready to be entranced as you wander around the narrow streets of this jewel dating back over 2000 years and travel back in time as you visit the main sights: the Roman Temple of Diana, the Gothic Cathedral, Saint Francis Church with its Chapel of Bones, and the sixteenth century University. The visit will also allow you to enjoy the full range of handicrafts the Alentejo region has to offer; you will admire the famous wares made of cork, pottery and copper. At the same time you will have the chance to sample the wide variety of products used in the preparation of the dishes of one of Portugal’s most renowned and richest cuisines. We’ll take a break where you can recharge your batteries over a lunch in a traditional Portuguese restaurant. In the afternoon, will depart towards Azeitão, where you will visit one of the oldest and most important wineries in Portugal. At the end of the visit, you will get to taste the traditional Moscatel de Setúbal. Then it’s time drive back to Lisbon after a memorable day.
