Private Undiscovered Selcuk Tour
Enjoy a private visit to Selçuk, often used as a stopping point for visitors on their way to Ephesus, and witness first hand its impressive cultural legacy.
The sixth century Basilica of St John the Apostle, built on the site of the Apostle´s tomb, is located in this town, with a special old quarter which has retained its traditional Turkish atmosphere. Your tour will start with a visit to the Isabey Mosque, constructed in 1374. Columns and stones taken from the ruins of near-by Ephesus and Artemis Temple were used in its construction. The tour will continue with a visit to the cave of the Seven Sleepers, where seven young Christian men hid from religious prosecution, falling asleep to wake up several centuries later. This will be followed by lunch in Yusufs Place, an open-air restaurant where you will be able to savour a traditional dish, known locally as gozleme.
