Excursions in Algarve
Starting with some warming up exercises we are ready to begin our big adventure. Keep on pedalling to the Faro Beach After some meters from our start through the Ria Formosa Natural Park, a natural heaven between the land and the sea, an idyllic landscape with a beautiful view over the dunes and islands. After admiring the beautiful landscapes of Ria Formosa, we arrive to Faro Beach. We go up to the wooden bridge in-between the dunes and we enter In the world of the people from the sea. We observe the fishermen and his characteristics houses and we can feel the smell of the sea. Return to Quinta do Lago, enter once again in the Ria Formosa Natural Park where we are going to have the possibility to touch the salt marshes and see Roman vestiges.
Come sail with us along the extraordinary Algarve coast and experience the pleasures of sailing aboard the Condor de Vilamoura. 3 hours cruises: Leaving Vilamoura, along the coast to the bay of Armação de Pêra and returning. We cruise by the rock formations and beaches a relaxed setting. Stop for a swim in good sea conditions. 7 hour cruises: From Vilamoura, along the coast to Benagil area where we serve a BBQ lunch on the beach. You have time to swim and relax. Visit the caves in the dingy when the sea permits.
Join us on a journey of discovery of the inland Algarve, specifically the area known as "Barrocal", - a journey to delight your senses, awaken your curiosity and whet your appetite for more.
Our first port of call is to the small town of São Brás de Alportel - quite typical of the Algarve in itÂ´s archicture and activities. Here we explore a local bakery renowned for itÂ´s traditonal produce - carob bread, almond cakes and honey cakes and the local carob licquer, which you can also sample.
Then we visit a cork factory. The cork that is harvested in the surrounding area is brought to this factory, prepared, treated and then exported.There is time also to visit the fascinating São Brás Ethnographic Museum.
Onward we go to Salir - a bucolic village where you can see the remnants of the ancient castle and itÂ´s walls. Our final destination is a large estate where biological agriculture is practiced. Here you can learn the secrets of their famous preserves and also sample some of the delicious produce.
An excellent opportunity to sample the delights of this fascinating region.
Much of the Algarves charm resides in its ability to provide top class tourist facilities and yet retain its own identity, easily visible in the traditional villages and activities of the area. Porches is renowned for its beautiful and original pottery. The Porches Pottery workshop is one of the best representatives of this art and many of the traditional methods of production are still used here today. You can see the pottery being made and painted by hand by the artisans. The fishing village of Benagil is perched above the Atlantic and a tiny but picturesque beach, the sound of the Atlantic and the uninterrupted sound track to the villages activities. Heading towards the resort of Carvoeiro we visit Algar Seco where you can see the amazing caves and grottoes carved from the coastline over the centuries. Enjoy a stroll through the village of Ferragudo, along the cobbled streets and down to the small harbour where you can look across the mouth of the River Arade towards Praia da Rocha. Our last stop is in a Winery. Here we visit the local Winery where you can enjoy a guided tour and also sample some of the wines produced in this region.
With over 120 different species of animals and 200 botanical species, Lagos Zoo offers a fun and educational day out for the whole family. Undoubtedly one of the main attractions are the primates, but the zoo is also home to lemurs, wallabies, lynxes, reptiles and tropical birds. The animal enclosures have been designed for the specific needs of each individual species and to ensure the well being of the animals in the zoo.The zoo's philosophy is based around the principles of conserving, eduaction and protecting and there is a classroom where children can watch a film about the environment and have fun drawing and painting the animals they have seen.
Sagres (Full Day) Welcome aboard! We cruise along our fabulous coastline dotted with many beautiful beaches and small fishing villages. On our arrival in Sagres, lunch will be served on board and then you have the opportunity to visit the small village, or go to the beach. On our return to Lagos you can visit the famous grottoes at PONTA DA PIEDADE (optional and weather depending). Possibility to swim! Grottoes of Ponta Da Piedade and surroundings Join us on a wonderful cruise along the breathtaking coastline around Lagos and Ponta da Piedade. Experience the fabulous grottoes (optional and weather depending), when we take you through them in our small fishing boats and enjoy a delicious fresh lunch. Possibility to swim. The trip will take 3 hours. All guests with transfer have the opportunity to visit the historical town of Lagos or one of the many famous beaches for another 3 hours, before returning to the Hotel.
Spend an unforgettable day on board the comfortable Yacht Amorita. Sailing near the coast, discovering caves, rock formations, isolated bays and beautiful beaches. Sometimes, during the cruise we are followed by the dolphins. You may choose: * Cruise of (approx.) 2.30 hours, stopping for a swim (depending on the conditions of weather/sea). * A Full Day cruise, departing from Albufeira Marina, until Carvoeiro area. Two hours will be spent at anchor beach where you will enjoy a typical grilled lunch. Trip to the caves, under the conditions of weather/sea. * 4 Hours Cruise (Albufeira, Benagil/ Caves area, Albufeira). Stop to swim. Visit to the caves on speed rib (under conditions of weather/sea). Snack served on Board.
Start the excursion in Almancil, in St. Lourenço Church, to apreciate the beautiful 18th Century white and blue glazed tiles. Continue to Faro, the capital of the Algarve, to visit the historical part of the city. Visit to Olhão, a city built under Arabic influences. Free time to stroll through the waterfront markets and to experiment the unique pleasure of watching genuine country people selling their products in the market. After that we continue to Tavira, stop to lunch (not included), where we visit what is left of the old Castle, the Sta Maria Church and all the historical building around. On the way back, weÂ´ll go through Santa Luzia a small fishing village, famous for the catch of the crab.
Come with us and discover Seville and learn all about this mysterious and magical city. The tour will start with a comfortable trip by bus while you enjoy the views over the rolling landscape extending between the Algarve and the Andalusian capital. Seville is a magical city with many legends and stories forged over the ages that will both enthral and transport you to another era. The tour will start with a visit to the colonnaded Plaza España and typical tiled buildings. Next well move on and visit the cathedral, the Giralda and the Court of the Oranges, originally a twelfth-century mosque of which only the minaret (La Giralda) and the Court of the Oranges remain. The tour will end with a walk around the Santa Cruz quarter, a maze of narrow streets and white houses with traditional Moorish courtyards, famous for the scent of their flowers and orange blossom. During the tour there will also be time for lunch (not included) and for shopping in the centre of Seville before we return to the Algarve after a day packed with magic and legends.
Get to see the Algarve in one day. Silves, a city full of history, with its Moorish castle, the roman bridge and its gothic cathedral (XIII) these are sights that should not be missed. On route to Foia you can observe the vegetation of the region, its panoramic views and taste the famous drink of the Algarve the Medronho. Stop for lunch (not included) a unique opportunity to try the famous chicken piri-piri. After that we stop at Caldas de Monchique and then at Parque da Mina, old farm where you will go back in time and remember the rich people way of life. Another city you will visit on route will be Lagos, The city of Portuguese Discoveries, and finaly arrive at Sagres. We stop at the fortress and in Cabo de São Vicente, the most south western point in Europe.
During your stay in Portugal, Lisbon should not be missed, one of the most magnificent capitals of the world. Enter in Lisbon by the 25th April suspended bridge over the river Tejo where you have a fantastic sight of the city. After arrival we will stopover the Historic centre and visit the Jerónimos Monastery, Torre de Belém, the Monument of Discoveries and Alfama, the old Moorish quarter. Free time for shopping and lunch (not included) in the centre. Return back to the Algarve in the afternoon.
BBQ-CRUISE: On this cruise we sail in the Bay of Lagos and continue along the most impressive caves and rock formations. After experiencing this beauty of nature we anchor in a sheltered bay. Here the crew will prepare the lunch. Time to swim. Then we show you the famous caves of "Ponta da Piedade" by smaller boat. Then we raise the sails again. Time for you to feel the magic of sailing, relax, sip a cocktail and enjoy the sun, sea and the view. Grotto Trip On this two hour trip we sail from Lagos to Ponta da Piedade, where we anchor. Changing to smaller boat, we show you the famous caves and rock formations. There is a possibility to sunbathe or swim. Family Fishing Our fishing trips are suitable for both beginners and proffesionals. With an interesting variety of fish to be caught in the rich waters of Lagos: for example Sea Bass, Stone Bass, Garfisch, Bream, Squid, Cuttle Fish and Mackerels. In the relaxed atmosphere on board even those fishing for the first will feel completely at ease, especially family groups and spectators. Everyone has an unforgetable time. "Altar do Mundo" visited three time by Pope John Paul II. Visit Aljustrel where the apparition took place. Visit the houses where the three shepherds were born. Arrived in Fátima, free time for lunch (not included) and shopping. Visit the Sanctuary, the Basilica, Apparition Chapel and the New Church of Santíssima Trindade, with opportunity of attending a mass.

Then we will drive along the stunning coast, past the impressive Praia do Camilo and unforgettable Ponta da Piedade before stopping at the Church of San Antonio, declared National Monument of Portugal for a guided tour. The next stop is bracing Sagres, at the very edge of continental Europe, Portugals very own Lands End. You will learn how the great navigators who opened up new routes around the world in the sixteenth century learnt their trade here in the famous Navigational School founded in the great fortress which we will take the opportunity to visit. It was from here that the ships sailed out into the unknown on voyages of discovery. Distinguished mariners and great explorers like King Henry the Navigator, Vasco da Gama and Ferdinand Magellan studied here. Our final stop, Cabo de San Vicente is a magical lonely place, once considered the edge of the world where you can look out on the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean from its majestic cliffs. The tour ends with a return to the starting point.
Get involved with the locals in one of the busiest and colourful cities in the Algarve. At Loulé Market you can find a huge variety of fruits and fresh vegetables. Browse around the quaint narrow shopping streets were you can see craftsmen, coppersmiths, basket and harness makers. Visits to the typical gipsy market were you will be able to haggle the price.
This tour is a great chance to get to know the real Portugal with a visit to a colourful market. From Monday to Saturday a popular market is set up on the beachfront of Quarteira, where you can buy all sorts of things, including freshly caught fish from the local por. You will enjoy haggling with the locals and maybe even snap up bargain or two. The fish market is renowned throughout Portugal for the quantity, quality and price of its fish and is highly recommended. We also recommend the fruit and vegetable market for delicious local produce. There is also a traditional flea market every Wednesday on the beachfront where you can buy everything but the kitchen sink (and maybe even that too!). Youll enjoy a stroll along the promenade, packed with restaurants, shops and bars and maybe enjoy a swim at the safe, well-protected beach, highly recommended for families. Then well head for Vilamoura, one of the main resorts on the Algarve. You shouldnt leave without paying a visit to Vilamoura Marina one of the most glamorous places on Faro where you can admire fishing boats and luxury yachts, as well as a large number of pleasure craft in its brand new harbour.
Silves - The old Moorish capital of the Algarve with its Moorish castle, a gothic cathedral, from the XIII century, and the roman bridge. From here we continue our journey to Fóia, the highest point in the Algarve (902m) from this point observe its flora and fauna and its most popular cities in the Algarve. Next stop will be at Caldas de Monchique and Mina park where you will go back in time by seeing and remember the rich people way of life. Visit a distillery where you can try the "Medronho", the local drink of the Algarve, get to know the Mina, animal farm, and the area of leisure with cafeteria and shop.

We begin the walk a bit outside of the historical town of Silves along the river Arade. Our walk refers to a limestone hill bounded by two rivers where during low tide many wading birds can be seen. We follow irrigation channels around the hillside. We emjoy beautiful views to the coast, Silves and mountain range of Monchique. Here we find na excellent range of many wild flowers including numerous orchids. We complete the walk by quite country lanes also rich in rockrose species, lavender and orange filed plantations.
