Walichu Caves, Shared Service.
Seven kilometres away from El Calafate City you can find an important archaeological place where the first rock paintings of the province were discovered and that nowadays have been recreated partly to be better appreciated. The illustrious explorer of the Patagonia, Francisco Pascasio Moreno, gave the first references of the existence of parietal paintings, done by the natives in Punta Walicho, where he observed that its walls were covered by signs made by the hand of the man. Once in the place, you will walk 500m accompanied by the guide, who will inform you about the main characteristics of the pre-tehuelche culture, tehuelche and the local geologic formations.
