Afternoon tea was a tradition in the Rocky Mountains in the days when visitors arrived by horseback at backcountry camps after a long day in the saddle. Step back in time at the historic Maligne Lake Chalet and join in the ritual of afternoon tea. This experience is charming and down to earth, its rustic ambience offset by massive Canadian-sized scones and overly sweet jams. Served in the recently restored heritage log Chalet, circa 1927, it's very famous view captures the quintessential charm of an era that valued luxury in the midst of wilderness. Relax and drink it all in.

The cruise is 90 min in duration and travels 14 km down the lake, through the Sampson Narrows and on to the Spirit Island. The cruises dock by Spirit Island to enjoy one of the most celebrated mountain views in the world, unchanged since the first explorers saw it over 100 years ago. At midway point of the cruise there is a photo stop at Spirit Island where passengers disembark for a short walk to the view point.

Jasper Tramway is the longest and highest guided aerial tramway in Canada and the only guided aerial ropeway in the Canadian Rockies. The tour provides visitors with unprecedented views of six mountain ranges, glacial fed lakes, the Athabasca River (Alberta's longest) and the scenic mountain town-site of Jasper. You can stroll the boardwalks viewing the interpretive plaques and watch for wildlife. Alpine inhabitants include the hoary marmot (famous for its whistling alert call), white-tailed ptarmigan, ground squirrels, pikas and the occasional bighorn sheep. Travel off of the boardwalks onto the hiking trails to the summit is possible but done so at your own risk.
