We begin the journey transferring us from La Fortuna around the Arenal Volcano to get to the hotel "Observatory Lodge," there we start the hike toward the summit of Chato Hill through a very dense primary forest. When we arrived up we go to visit the lagoon on the top, where you can swim besides taking photos and discover the surroundings. Then, we continue descending, always enclosed of a very dense forest, where you could appreciate birds, plants, animals, insects and immense trees, as well enjoy the sensation of liberty having a beautiful views of the San Carlos Valley as well as of the Arenal Volcano. The end of the walk will be in La Fortuna Waterfall, where we will descend again in order to arrive on the dot base of it and enjoy a beautiful natural landscape that makes it very special. After a refreshing swim we will return to La Fortuna town by car.

We leave early in route to Rio Celeste, we’ll arrive at the Tenorio Volcano National Park, were we’ll begin our 5 miles hike through the tropical rain forest. We’ll arrive “Los Teñideros” of the Rio Celeste, the site where two streams of crystalline water come together and form the heavenly color blue that gives the river its name. We’ll continue our hike through the jungle to seek out the volcano’s furnace vents that expel gases of extreme high temperatures. On our decent we will get to see the spectacular Rio Celeste waterfall whose color makes it one of a kind! Our final reward is an exquisite lunch at the end of our journey.

The tour begins with the visit of the hanging bridges of Arenal, a 3 km hike with 15 bridges with a length of 5 to 100 m and with a maximum height of up to 60 m, a spectacular scene of the primary tropical Rain Forest, especially for bird watching, observation of plants, reptiles, mammals and insects. Return to the village and drive only 15 min to the waterfall of Fortune. There is a deep pool, surrounded by enormous rocky canyons, ideal for relaxation. You also can enjoy spectacular views of the valley and the tropical forest. After this refreshing swim, drive back to the village to take lunch at the restaurant Lava Rocks. Then enjoy a walk in the National Park Arenal Volcano across the Rain Forest for approx. 45 min till you reach the lava flow of 1992. Being on the lava, watching the sunset and at night appreciating the flowing lava, is an experience that will astonish. Exists the possibility to observe a wide variety of plants, wildlife, the magnificence of Arenal and Lake Arenal. There you will have the opportunity to relax in the hot springs of Tabacon. You will be there for a couple of hours. Afterwards you will have dinner at the same restaurant as before.

Starting the horse back ride through a 560 hectare farm at an elevation of 400 m MSL, accompanied by a professional and bilingual guide. Riding a well trained horse accustomed to non experienced and experienced riders alike, you will enjoy this adventure. The first hour will take you through open spaces until you reach the Fortuna River where the group ford the river in an area that is safe for the horses and riders, after which we reach the main road that reaches the waterfall, where you must travel along this public road for about 15 min until reaching the falls. Once at the main entrance we may enter and descend to the base of this great and beautiful waterfall where you may swim or simply take pictures.

The Arenal Volcano tour starts with a drive to the active Western side of the volcano. Once there you will embark on a hike on the Toucans Trail which traverses the rainforest and crosses over a large lava flow from 1992. It is possible to observe a great variety of plants, wildlife and magnificent lava rock formations. Once on top of the lava flow you will have a beautiful view of Lake Arenal. The hike ends at a viewing area where, weather permitting, you will be able to see red hot lava rolling down the side of the volcano (15:00 h tour only). During the tour, the experienced guides will provide interesting and educational information regarding the history of the majestic mountain and the Arenal Volcano National Park. The tour concludes with a relaxing stop at the mineral hot spring. (Stop at hot springs is optional, entrance fee not included).

Furthermore bats and spiders are also common at this place. The caves are located only 45 min from La Fortuna.
